Molson and I visited Michael Gladfelter of Diehl Funeral Home in Mt. Wolf a few weeks before Molson passed to prepare for the inevitable. He owns 2 Goldens who also go to work with him. He recently lost another Golden and could relate to what we were going through. Molson quickly made friends with the two other dogs and enjoyed the treats Michael had for him. We shared stories of these amazing pups and had some laughs together. He told me that when the time came to call him and he would take care of the necessary arrangements.
Mister Molson came home on August 25, 2017. Thanks to Diehl Funeral Home for offering us the complementary cremation. They went above and beyond by giving us framed pictures and a memorial video.
Kristi gave me and the kids necklaces with little capsules where we can carry some of Molson’s ashes. This will help him be close to us wherever we go.
It does feel good to have Molson home again. And now I don’t feel so crazy talking like he is still here. I know it will take time to heal but this will give me a way to still feel close to my buddy. I will never forget you Mister Molson.
As I was cleaning up all the dog items around the house I realized how big of a part of our life he played. There were signs of him in every room. Things like toys and dog beds, food bowls and hiding spots remind us of him everyday. One of the things that really stood out was the pile of medicine bottles. We tried everything we could to keep him comfortable and alive. Maybe he hung to finish his bucket list. Maybe he hung on because giving up doesn’t exist in nature. Maybe he fought because he didn’t want to appear weak to his pack. Maybe he fought because we did. Whatever mixture of reasons, I believe he did it for us.
He gave us so many wonderful memories all the way to the end. We never saw him unwilling to go on an adventure. We never saw fear or self pity. Though his body failed, his spirit never did.
“It’s better to burn out, than to fade away.” (Neil Young).

Sending you big hugs and love. Thank you for sharing all of Mr. Molson’s adventures . My darling Bodhi has lymphoma . He is in remission currently but inevitably the disease will take him from me. I am comforted by your journey. Thank you <3 Daun and Bodhi

I’m so glad that you have Mister Molson back home with you. The pain of your loss will take time but having him near will help. I lost my precious Maltese to cancer 7 years ago and her urn still sits in my living room. It’s comforting to have them close. Many hugs and love to you and your family. Remember all the good memories!

I love this! Mr. Molson was such a treasure and I’m so glad you have him back at home now. Those necklaces are a great way to keep him close and the memorial box of ashes can go with you on any car trip or place you think Mr. Molson would like to go too. I hope you’re healing well! One day at a time 🙂 Mr. Molson’s way of not having self pity or fear is a great example to us all when we are ill, injured or feeling low. What a wonderful dog and gift he was!

I’ve followed along with you and Mister Molson since I first heard about him getting married. I thank the both of you for that. Unfortunately, I now understand the pain you had to endure. My 8 yr old poodle mix is now fighting his own battle with cancer. You’ve helped me learn to enjoy the time I do have with him. I will make the best of it for the both of us. I hope you and your family are taking the time to heal. Mister Molson loved your children & yourself so deeply. It showed in all the pictures together of him smiling

Thank you for sharing Mister Olson with us. I will miss his adventures. In June I had to put down my girl. After 15 years her body had given out. So I cooked her a steak dinner. Let her eat Cheetos and whatever else she wanted. RIP You will be missed. ❤️
