Mutty Muddy
Mister Muddy became part of our family almost a year ago. Until recently, we had no idea what kind of dog he was. That all changed a couple weeks ago when the Wisdom Panel results came in.
The kindness of strangers
We recently got a call from Agape Animal Rescue regarding a company that wanted to help with Muddy's story. This was a complete surprise and generous offer. They offered to send us a wisdom panel and have Muddy's DNA tested to determine what type, or types, of breed he is.
We did the swab, sent it in, and waited patiently speculating on his results. We even put a poll up on his facebook page. And boy, were we all wrong! We had guesses of fox hound, redbone, vizsla, beagle, labrador, and several others. It now makes sense why Elliot wanted to name him Sausage when we first got him. Because.....
This is quite an odd collection of breeds. I'm not sure what you would call it... a Boxshund Shepherd Terrier? ... a Dachser Russel Shepherd? While researching the breeds I did find out that a Dachshund mixed with a Yorkie is called a "dorkie." I was pleased to find that they found no genetic markers of disease mutations. It was fun reading about the different breeds that make the Muddy Soup.
We are lucky to have such a happy, healthy dog. Thanks to Mister Molson, Pickler & Ben, and Agape Animal Rescue for bringing him to us. We are all very grateful.
